Ladies and Germs...

I've had a fairly interesting last few days.
Thursday was spent in the Black Forest with Miss J.
We went to Freiberg and then to Triberg- crossing back into Switzerland to go back to Basel via Zurich.
It was fun, although it rained the entire time.

Yesterday, Miss J went to the UK for the weekend.
I have been, as usual, in the studio.

I am really getting into Stylus RMX.
This is an amazing program.
Essentially it works like a sampler playback plugin with its own effects built in.
Ok- nothing special, but the architecture of this plugin gives what marketing people no doubt call 'unparalleled possibilities'.
It really does.

Say you have a 2 bar loop comprising of kick, snare, hi-hats and cymbals in your usual 'rock-type-drump-loop' format.
Using something like a Recycle format- where each transient peak is sliced into a separate sample they are able to create an edit group matrix where each slice has its own grouping.
tehse groupings can be effected, repeated, reveresed, eq'ed or simply ignored during playback.
The plugin ships with around 8GB of raw samples and loops.
I tend to like to work with my own material- guitar parts resampled into synth type sounds.
RMX allows you to recycle import your own loops and effect them as I have decribed above.

The whole plugin is extremely creative and inspiring- the only problem is there is no batch conversion program for Recycle- so I am converting the loops one by one.
I have around 80GB of loops in total.
This is going to take a while.

Finally- I did a voiceover yesterday for Daniel Platisa where I said "Ladies and Gentlemen- please welcome the Miss Zurich candidates".
I wonder if I get to meet them?
