The Deathbird is my rock-oriented songwriting project, built around guitar, voice and narrative-driven composition. Where my electronic work often emerges from systems and improvisation, The Deathbird is more directly rooted in songcraft, lyric and performance. The material explores themes of damage, repair and persistence, often drawing on imagery of fracture and restoration. It is a space where personal experience and symbolic storytelling meet, shaped through arrangement, texture and a focus on emotional clarity.
The current body of work centres on Fragments – The Deathbird I, the first in a planned sequence of releases under the Deathbird title. The album reflects ideas of incompleteness, recovery and movement through uncertainty, with songs that balance fragility and weight. Early material from the project is already available, including Everything Dead or Alive, which captures the tone and direction of the work and serves as an introduction to the world that The Deathbird inhabits.
